At 10 years old, Thea lived on a rocky beachfront with her cousin Minnie and her parents Chimedes & Arimea, a pair of fisherfolk. When she was ten, after a rough season of fishing, her parents made an offering that Possiedon deemed unsatisactory. Without a word, he rose from the sea, and projected a curse upon Thea's parents. In an act of heroism, Thea threw herself before her parents, taking on the curse for them. After introducing himself as "Kind Sea, Broseidon with the trident, Poseidon Baybe!", Posiedon continues: "I was trying to hit your mom and pop but looks to me like the better curse is hitting their kid. Now they get to live with the fact that their little girl's a MONSTER". As Poseidon chuckles in his subject's misfortune, Minnie takes Thea into his arms, attempting to comfort her, promising: "It's not that bad being a monster... I'm sorry kiddo. People don't always understand, but as long as we got each other, we got something."
